What are the concepts of TBLI or ESG? There are countless definitions, but three popular ones in line with both societal and business requirements are: People plus Planet plus Profit, i.e. Social Equity, Environmental Quality, and Economic Prosperity. ESG adds social and/or environmental value to external stakeholders, whilst increasing value to shareholders. We show how to create a portfolio of investments around ESG. How can investors make high impact ESG (sustainable) investments in public equity, private equity, real estate, carbon finance, micro-finance, forests, and a rapidly growing number of other alternative types of investment?
Based in Amsterdam, TBLI GROUP™ seeks to raise awareness in the financial sector of the benefits of sustainable investment. It assists both companies and individuals who wish to institutionalize sustainability and acts as an international knowledge broker, providing a global network for parties who share in this goal.
To draw attention to the benefits of TBLI, the company’s TBLI CONFERENCE™ division holds two annual TBLI Conferences, two-day events in which the world’s leaders on sustainability network, exchange information and ideas on the latest developments in screening, auditing, reporting, SRI analysis, corporate citizenship, indexes, and research.
TBLI GROUP™ also offers results-oriented advisory and financial networking services through its TBLI CONSULTING™ division which has, among other projects, raised capital and located strategic partners for leading cleantech private equity funds, microfinance bonds, and green mortgages.
Another division, TBLI ACADEMY™, offers in-company training for the financial sector on Triple Bottom Line Investing and education services (how to achieve “buy in” of sustainable investing). In one recent program, the Academy made a presentation to Euronext, a leading stock exchange, on creating a strategy for both CSR (corporate social responsibility) and SRI; another program trained banks throughout South Asia inthe relevance of sustainable finance.
TBLI GROUP™ was founded by Robert Rubinstein, an American publishing executive who has long been influential in bringing the concepts of both CSR and sustainable finance into an increasingly receptive mainstream financial community. He’s created five different magazines, including Source, a management publication dealing exclusively with CSR. He’s also given hundreds of presentations all over the world on the risks, returns and opportunities of ESG investing. As a teacher at the Rotterdam School of Management, he was one of the first to teach SRI in an M.B.A. Program.
